Paul Reynolds: December 2022 Consultant Spotlight
Software Engineering Associate
My background is extremely diverse – I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the University of Missouri – Kansas City Conservatory (I still play professionally several times a year!), a Masters of Divinity from the Covenant Theological Seminary (I’m a part-time pastor), and software engineering training from Harvard’s CS50x and Thinkful (an online bootcamp). I joined Crew in June 2022 as a Software Engineering Associate.
I’m one of a team of three developers who make a full-stack web application that serves internal developers at Charter. We are a part of Charter’s order-taking system, where customers sign up for cable, phone, and internet service. If you’re curious about our tech stack, it’s Typescript, React, NodeJS, GraphQL (learning GraphQL and building this part of the API was one of my own projects), Express, and both MongoDB and SQL Server.
I like that part of my development job is to provide a fresh pair of eyes on the product that the team makes. I’ve been able to provide lots of perspectives and many of my ideas have been implemented in the application!
My favorite part of the work day is our team standups, not because I like progress reports, but because I love people and it’s the most interactive and collaborative part of my day.
Outside of work, I am a father to two (super cute) children under the age of three, and a huge movie buff with over 1,000 DVDs and Blu-rays. My collecting habit also applies to books, where an entire wall of my office is covered in them!
