Accelerating compensation insights with secure, scalable cloud architecture

Service Provided Cloud Optimization

Our team guided a leading compensation consultancy in launching a secure, cloud-native analytics platform that revolutionized how financial firms access and benchmark compensation data. Through DevOps excellence and AWS architecture, our client gained agility, security, and market leadership in a highly competitive industry.

Client challenge

When a compensation advisory firm serving the alternative investment sector set out to launch a data platform unlike anything else in the market, it turned to Turnberry for help making that vision real. The goal: deliver a secure, cloud-based solution capable of aggregating and analyzing sensitive compensation data for hedge funds, private equity firms, and other financial players. But the firm needed more than just software—it needed a partner who could bring deep technical expertise, agile execution, and a DevOps mindset from day one. The platform had to do a lot, and do it all exceptionally well.

That meant handling complex data workflows with rigorous anonymization rules, enabling multi-factor authentication and fine-tuned role-based access, and presenting insights through intuitive visual dashboards. It also had to accommodate dramatic spikes in usage during compensation submission periods without missing a beat. Without a scalable, secure, and fast-to-deploy solution, the client risked both their reputation and a critical market opportunity.

Our solution

Turnberry designed and delivered a secure, cloud-native SaaS platform built entirely on AWS using a serverless and event-driven architecture. A responsive React front-end was deployed to S3 and distributed via CloudFront with AWS WAF, ensuring both performance and protection against web vulnerabilities.

Amazon Cognito enabled secure user authentication with MFA and granular role-based access, while API Gateway, Lambda, and Fargate powered a robust backend that required no manual server management. The platform was engineered for resilience and agility.

EventBridge, Step Functions, SQS, and SNS managed orchestration, processing, and notifications across the platform. Infrastructure was defined through CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS CDK, supporting blue/green deployments and environment consistency. CI/CD pipelines were built using GitHub, CodePipeline, and CodeBuild, reducing release cycles to days instead of weeks and enabling zero-downtime deployments. Throughout, Turnberry provided end-to-end support, including architecture, development, security hardening, and knowledge transfer.

Results

The resulting platform launched successfully, empowering the client to secure a leadership position in compensation analytics for the financial services industry. With a secure and intuitive user experience, the solution rapidly gained traction—onboarding over 15 hedge funds and private equity firms within the first three months. Turnberry’s infrastructure and DevOps approach delivered 99.99% uptime, exceptional scalability, and rapid iteration that allowed the client to release new features every two weeks.

Operational efficiency was another key win. CI/CD pipelines reduced deployment times from over eight hours to under 30 minutes, while serverless infrastructure cut operational costs by 40% over three years. The platform scaled effortlessly to handle a 500% increase in data volume during peak periods without performance issues. Most importantly, its flexible foundation has allowed the client to continuously expand its offerings and strengthen its market presence—delivering strategic, data-driven compensation insights in a secure and reliable environment.
